With our new Colour Me Cuts being released in the store today, I thought I would pop in and share a layout I created when being the honorary 'product tester' for them.
For those of you that haven't already seen, Colour Me Cuts are diecut printed shapes ready to customise with your own colours. We have 3 designs available in our first release; butterflies, flowers and feathers.
I'll show you the finished layout first and then take you a little through the process.
I've had this photo sitting in my to-be-scrapped pile for quite a while now but always struggled with the mix of bright colours in the picture. The Colour Me Cuts were the perfect solution! I could customise them to a colour palette that suited my photo perfectly.
I dug into my stash of mixed media and choose some bright colours in my Colour Blast shimmer pots and some co-ordinating gelatos. Now I am by no means any type of artist so I can assure you, if you can colour in, you can do this ... it's super easy!
I simply coloured in the entire shape with the shimmer pots and then gently smudged some gelato to the centre of each flower to create some depth. I also added some darker green along the veins in each leaf. Once they were dry I laid them all out flat and added some flicks of white to add some extra interest. As you can see, they took the colour really well and didn't warp at all.
I clustered the flowers into 3 groups around a set of overlapping circles I handstitched on my page. I used some foam to add dimension between the layers.
I wanted to keep any other embellishing really simple so that the flowers took pride of place. All I added were a few flair, some tangled thread and a couple of wordfetti strips.
I'm so happy with the finished result and hope you are inspired to give our new Colour Me Cuts a go too!
Till next time,
