Hi everyone, happy new year!
This is my first post for 2018, so I hope you all welcomed in the
new year with family and friends. Ours was very quiet with an early night for the adults as we'd only just returned from holidays.
As we were away, I didn't get to scrap during my break but enjoyed putting this layout together when we got back.
These are two (of my many) gorgeous nieces (love having girls in my life!) and I'd love to talk you through how I did this layout.
I was inspired by the December Advent Kit that came out. If you missed out last year, you definitely need to be on the look out for it if the boss-lady does it again this year. It was such a treat to open a little packet everyday for 25 days leading up to Christmas. It was a wonderfully designed kit and the colours were lemon, pink and spearmint, wrapped in brown paper bags with beautiful lace doilies and lots of wonderful little embellishment treasures inside. This will be the first layout of many using those gorgeous embellishments.
First was the background, I don't often do black/dark backgrounds but thought this would really make the colours stand out. I stenciled in white/pearl paint with a couple of different D-lish stencils.
I then used a white posca pen as ink for a couple of word stamps that came in a Just Add Paper (JAP) kit. I then stamped with teal coloured ink, with the fabulous paint-brush stamps in the Advent kit. Then I splattered white posca pen paint over the page.
I tore up a medium sized doilie, a medium sized brown paper bag and washi tape, along with some patterned paper and placed them as the foundation of the background.
...then I placed some left over black hessian which I stretched and pulled...
...I added lots of sequins, the wooden heart, resin flowers and flair button (which became my title).
...the pink flower was a little too big so I cut 1/3 of the petals off and poked it under my raised photo.
...the leaf was placed as an embellishment on its own and the stem that was too long, I cut and placed under the heart (there's no need to throw anything out - make it a statement on it's own I say!)
I hope you like this layout and are inspired to get creating for yourself.
Here is a list of the D-lish embellishments I used:

Take care and here's to a wonderfully creative 2018 for us all.
All the best
