I'm totally in denial that it's February already ... like when did that happen?!
I'm here to share my first layout for the month. These are some cute snapshots of my daughter reading her home readers to her baby doll. I love capturing these special moments and documenting them.
I've had these papers and photos pulled as a 'kit' in my stash for quite a while but they certainly didn't turn out as I had originally planned. To be honest, I like this much better than my original plan anyhow *wink* so I'm kind of glad it took me so long to get it together.
The background was created with a few acrylic paints which I simply swiped across the background using a palette knife. They turned out a little brighter than I wanted so it was easy to tone them down with a little white gesso. I then added some splatters of grey over the top to finish it off.
The patterned papers were a mix of collections which I had pulled together simply for the colours. I layered these together with one of the 6" white lace doilies. I also layered in a date tab at the top of the photo. The large cluster was made up of an assortment of paper flowers and also some hydrangea petals from a past JAP kit. I 'blinged' these up by adding a few adhesive pearls to the centres. I also added a script word flair, poka dot button, resin flowers and a scattering of wood veneer hearts.
I created a second cluster using more of the same embellishments. I chose a different flair for here and also added a resin bow which was the perfect colours to match.
I hope my layout has inspired you today. Sometimes it's not necessary to have a new collection to scrap with, you can simply let the colours in your photo 'speak' to you and have a ferret through your scraps.
