Today I am here to share with you all, my take on our newly released Inspiration Board 'Flights of Fantasy'. You may have seen a sneak peek of it during the reveal, here is the full layout ...
Here's another look at the board with its pretty shades of pink plus a touch of grey and white ...
Originally I was going to recreate the heart of punched butterflies but at the last moment changed my mind and decided to take inspiration from the dreamcatcher in the board. I googled for an image and then printed it on A4 copy paper to use as a template. I then searched through my stash for patterned papers and found the perfect match for the pretty teacups in the board; a grey plaid and some soft pink hearts. After selecting a photo this is what I had to begin ...
I grabbed a sheet of white cardstock from my stash and used my lightbox to trace the dreamcatcher onto my page. Next I carefully (and tediously) pierced all the holes in preparation to handstitch. After rubbing out the pencil lines, I used some Colour Blast shimmer pots to create the watercolour and splatters where the dreamcatcher was situated. Then the stitching began. I finished off the dreamcatcher by cutting some feathers with my cameo and adding them on.
Next it was time to embellish!
I dug deep into my stash to find as many silver rhinestones as I could. I then glued these all over the dreamcatcher to resemble dew drops. I wanted to keep the actual embellishing fairly simple so choose a few paper and resin flowers from my stash to make two small clusters. I also choose a few strips from the wordfetti sheet to scatter around my page.
I used a 'dream' mini chipboard word for my title which is coloured silver. In my smaller cluster I also added a 'Defining Words' flair and a resin bow.
I hope I have inspired you to create your own dreamcatcher layout today. It wasn't a difficult process at all though it did take a little time. Totally worth it in the end I feel!
Till next time,
