"Hello Summer" by Anthea

Hello all and Hello Summer!!!

With the heat we have been having here (above 40 most days for the past few weeks) I thought I would add something bright and refreshing to your day.

This photo is a few years old but an absolute favourite of my kids and some of their cousins hanging out in the pool.

I started off with a different background (a bluish and white background piece of paper) - but alas I destroyed it my smudging texture paste in places it was impossible to hide. I was going to switch to plain white cardstock only to discover I was clean out of that too....so ended up with a grey coloured background which I am not too too upset about.

I added some blue by adding texture paste through the D-lish splats and stains stencil - a perfect choice for this photo I think - and I then added some wavy blue washy tape to kind of represent the water ....  (I did say kind of!)

I had the "stay cool" flair in my stash and knew that I wanted to use it on my LO - so this ended becoming the basis for the LO.  The orange tissue paper from an old JAP kit was a perfect match for the flair, so I used that as my mat for my photo.

The rest came together fairly quickly - I just picked some flowers and tassels that I thought would work well with the photos.  I have used a bunch of different paper and fabric flowers but all in the same colours. That gorgeous orange one (to your right) is from the Summer in Tuscany JAP kit. The big yellow flower comes without a centre - so I just popped a resin flower in there, I think it looks cute.   I then scattered some orange star buttons and yellow sequins over the page to give it a bit more oooph. I also placed a good old cap charm from a past JAP kit on the LO for good measure.

I still felt like it needed something more - so I tucked some punchinella and stamens in behind the clusters.  I really like how they make it all pop just a little bit more.

For the last little bit I added the title.

I didn't have matching titles - so picked 2 different wood veneer  ones (the summer one is from the last JAP kit).  If you haven't got it yet - do yourself and favour and get it - it is stunning!  I decided to leave them raw for this LO - but painting them up is really an easy thing to do if you want to change the colour.

Well that is it for now.  I hope you like my LO and I have inspired you to go and create something bright and fun too.

If you are trying to stay cool over the summer - may I suggest scrapping to fill in your time.  If you are looking for some inspiration and fun challenges with great prizes - don't forget to check out the scrap suite on Facebook.

Till next time.
Take care.
Hugs
Anthea
