So, you may have seen our October Cybercrop challenges when they were released over in The Scrap Suite earlier this month. Today I am here to show you my challenge sample in greater detail and let you know how you can play along too.
My layout documents when I got to spend some time with my 'admin' team at a retreat in Melbourne earlier this year. I had been lucky enough to meet Amanda H previously but this was my first time meeting Michelle in real life.
The background for this one took two attempts ... the first met its fate in the bin! I began with a concoction of clear gesso, white paint and some other random colour dusts and powders trying to mix the perfect colour for the butterflies. It ended up quite runny so I just dabbed it on with a baby wipe through the butterfly stencil. The yellow and pink was created using shimmer pots then lastly some colour paste through a stencil for the tiny dots.
The magnificent Magnolia flower takes centre stage in my main cluster along with some other paper flowers, resin and a sequin bow.
I used one of our delicate Lace Doilies as a photo mat, this one is the 5" size. The smaller cluster contains some more paper flowers, resin and a flair. I've also used some of the new Pastel Leaves and wood veneer hearts to finish it all off.
Once I had everything in place I decided to add the row of stitching around the photo. I feel this helped to 'ground' the layout and pull it all together.
If you'd like to join in with my challenge here are the details:
And here's a quick reminder of the colour wheel for you:
It's super easy to play along, you just need to add your entry to the relevant album in The Scrap Suite by midday on the 17th November. With an amazing and exclusive D-lish Scraps signature kit on offer for each challenge you'd be mad not to have a go. And best of all, prizes are randomly drawn which gives everyone the same equal chance at winning.
I hope to see your take on my 'Hot or Cold' challenge soon.
