Keep calm and relax by Nicolee Cable

Good Morning all
Can you believe we are at the end of September already?!
At least we can celebrate with the weekend.  I hope you’re getting up to some fun adventures this weekend? Or are you like me and have to tackle the house work?!

Well I don’t mind because I’m feeling refreshed as I’ve just had a lovely week with my family in Darwin.  Family time is always good for my soul!

Today I’m going to show you a layout that I've done recently which shows a photo of my family relaxing at the foreshore, hence the title ‘keep calm and relax’!
I didn’t really have a plan for this layout - sometimes I’m led by the photo,
sometimes by the papers I find to use.
This time I was led by both as I’ve been wanting to use these earthy, floral papers for a while now and it seemed the perfect fit.

Once I had gathered supplies from my D-lish stash that matched the paper colours,
then I let them sit in front of me and play with them in
different places until I decide if I’m going to use them or not.
At first I had chosen a different background paper.
I tried to use a little ink to add some dimension but this failed miserably, so I ditched that page and chose the wood-grain paper instead.  I’m much happier with this choice and think it suits perfectly.
After fussy cutting the flower frame along the bottom, I layered the ribbon.
I also cut out some doilies from the paper range and backed them with some sparkly rose-gold card stock (this just added the right amount of sparkle), subtle but there.
The green string is from an old kit and I just like playing with it to make knots
and then pulling and twisting it until it looks beyond untangling - perfect!

Then I decided which flowers and embellishments went where and after gluing them down, added a few little white marker splashes around to finish it off.

Here is a list of the D-lish embellishments I used:
          Canvas leaves
Bitty bow
                Creative cuts – seed stems
Vellum butterflies (from a previous JAP kit)
Hope you enjoy and are inspired to pop on over to the
D-lish store to grab yourself some
perfect embellishments for your next project.
Take care
Nicolee xxx
