The Day of Love - with Anna Allan...

Hi again.
I'm back with a quick little project I whipped up especially for documenting Feb 14 - the day of LOVE...Valentines Day!

I made these cards especially for my Project Life album - slot these into the pockets as well as some photos of me and my loved ones and that's a wrap!

I created these cards using watercolour paper and colouring them with - you guessed it - watercolours! ;-)
I then stamped them randomly with hearts.
Then it was time to embellish them and add the sentiments.

Another birthday card - with Anna Allan...

Oh my gosh!
I am so pleased with myself for getting my card making groove on!
Considering it is not something that comes naturally - I am all for VERY simple designs.

So here is my 4-ingredient card I created.
Can't go wrong with strips of washi for a background really hey? Quite effective I reckon!
I then used a wood cupcake that I coloured with inks.
And those D-lish dots are perfect as sprinkles don't ya think!
The Cardfetti sentiments are great to use to add meaningful words to your card.

Thanks for looking!

Inspired by Lynn - with Katie

Good Morning and welcome to my last post for February. Wow, another month almost down, a bit scary how quickly this year seems to be going by already.

Any hoo, you can't stop time, so let's use it to scrap instead! Today I am bringing you a page inspired by the lovely Lynn and her sketch for the February cyber crop. Again, you still have time to participate in this as we are now giving you until the next cyber crop to get your entries in! All you have to do is be a part of the Scrap Suite Facebook group (see the button in the sidebar to join) and read the rules for each challenge.

First up, here is the sketch:

And now for my take on the page:

We had such a fabulous time at Comic Con last year and I took so many photos (all on my phone mind you!) that my daughter and I are already planning on costumes for ourselves this year! While we were in the queue to have our photo taken with Orlando Bloom (Yes that Orlando Bloom! And he is absolutely gorgeous! That is a story for another page!) we found this group all dressed up as characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and they looked fabulous. So of course we asked to have a photo!

Lots of D-lish goodness on my page today. Let's start with the paper doilies, so useful and great for layering, love using the Journal It's journal spots, add a couple of flowers including a new pretty  pastel petal (love these!) and a little resin one and finish off with a bit of wood veneer and we are all good!

I have been having so much fun with my new Scrap Fx goodies too, check out the stencil work on my background using the chevron stencil. Use a bit of pumice stone distress ink and make it a subtle pattern on my background. I have just been loving using my little tubes of sequins that came with the monochrome mini-kits, and the flair came from one of these kits too. I really hope Amanda makes some more of these as I still have a few colours that I didn't get last time! I am also loving the new short arrow paper clips from Freckled Fawn (ok I love all Freckled Fawn!). I think I ended up getting them in every colour!

Using paper bags to mat your photo is so easy and there are so many colours and patterns you are spoilt for choice! The mixed bags are a great way to start as you get a rainbow of colours to choose from! I love adding wood veneer too, and sometimes these little speech bubbles just add the perfect touch. The tabs are another of my favourites, so easy to use and great for layering.

So that is it for me for the month, I hope that I have inspired you to join in with some of our monthly challenges. Even if only to give you a starting point for creating your next page!

Thanks for stopping by.

February Inspiration Board - with Katie

Good Morning, Katie back again. Have you seen the gorgeous Inspiration board for February? Well in case you haven't here it is:

So pretty and so many things to inspire from this board! Good news is that you still have time to join in the fun and upload your own entry if you haven't done so yet. And if you want more inspiration go here and see what the Inspiration Team have done.

I decided to use the sketch from this board, because sometimes you just want a page to come together quickly! And really, who doesn't love a sketch?!

The pictures are of my daughter and her little cousin at one of our family catch ups. He is a funny little man, so serious! Have you thought of colouring your texture paste before you use it on a page? I did that here, using some mist (Mr Huey's Shell) to give it a slight beige colour. But you can use re-inkers, gelatos, paint, just about anything to give it more dimension!

I am just loving the new Pink Fresh Studio wood products in store! Check out the Wood Strip that I used for my title, just divine. Also in my little cluster are some new paper flowers (pastel petals), Scrap Fx chipboard, Little Birdie Burlap Butterflies, Manilla Shipping Tag and an After 5 Fabric Flower. Can you see the Tulle sticking out under the photo? It is a little bit hard to see, probably because I used the buttercream colour which is quite subtle! But it is great to add that extra layer of texture to your page.

To finish off I slotted a Monochrome Journal It spot under my photo for my journaling, and created another small cluster around this. Love using Flair, this one was from a Just Add Paper kit, as was the paper flower, add another butterfly and a resin daisy finishes it off.

I hope you are inspired to have a go at this month's inspiration board. You still have time so get scrapping!

See you soon.

Inspired by Kerry - with Katie

Good Morning Everyone! I hope this finds you all preparing for a glorious Sunday of activities! I am just glad to be seeing the sun this morning after days of gloom here in Brisbane! Everything however is still damp inside and sodden outside, but the sun is out!

My first share with you for this month has been inspired by Kerry and her tie dye challenge in this month's cyber crop. And if you didn't hear you now have a whole month to do your entry! So you too can still have a go if you haven't tried already. If you aren't a member of the Scrap Suite (where we do all our cyber cropping and sharing) then click on the button in the side bar to ask to join!

Now I have to say this was my first attempt and I don't think it is perfect (well as perfect as you can get with this kind of technique), but it was fun and something that I might just have to try again and see what results I get! I chose three bright colours of mists to use for my background, yellow, orange and hot pink and I do love how it turned out.

I decided that the brightness needed some black for contrast, so I added some alphabet letters with a stencil and black gesso. Because I was using gesso it bled a little too, which made it a bit messy and suited the background in general. After creating the background all I needed to do was add my photo and lots of D-lish goodies and my page was done!

In this cluster you can see a gorgeous sequin bow, spotty resin button, flair, kraft shipping tag and a new Pink Fresh Studio wood bead (these are just gorgeous by the way!) The kraft shipping tags are so versatile to use on your projects, I just stamped something on mine and tucked it under the photo to add to the cluster.

I love using my Motex! And I seem to have the right colour tape for just about every situation!  A nifty trick that I learnt from the lovely Anna is to staple it down to make sure it stays put works a treat and adds some decoration with the staples at the same time! You can see also that I have used one of the heart shaped paper doilies and a kraft bitty bag.

Behind my photo I have used another paper bag, a larger one, like a mat, these are a great size to use with 4x6 photos. I have also added a short paperclip arrow from Freckled Fawn and a chipboard word for my title.

So there you have it! My experiment with a tie dye background! Thanks Kerry for an interesting technique. Maybe you should give it a try too. The instructions are in the Scrap Suite group.

See you next time,

Katie x

My last post of the month is of a photo that I am very proud - My son's graduation from Year 12.  The world is now his oyster and time to make his path in life.

I used Kaisercraft Collection "off the wall" for the background page.  I have used a 13 arts stencil and texture paste and then distress paint " mustard seed" and Shimmerz paint Jeni B Bleu.

I have layered behind the photo with Monochrome Colour Journal Its pack

I have coloured the chipboard arrows with black ink

The background stamp I have used is from Kaisercraft -  "arty".  Currently my favourite stamp!

I have coated this wood veneer quote with Distress Paint - Mustard Seed

GOOD TIMES ..... By Lynn

Hi there everyone - my day for a reveal - sorry it is late but we have been having internet problems.  Back up and running now so I can show you my layout based on this months moodboard. I was inspired by the photo of the ocean and the colours.

I have used Ombre Dreams Paper by Blue Fern Studio.  I covered the entire 12x12 with clear gesso to allow the paints to sit nicely on the paper and not soak in.  I have used a Tim Holtz Stencil with Shimmerz Texturez paste "Patina".

I have then applied stamps from Ranger and Kaisercraft using a brown ink.  I have used Inklingz Water colour "Freshly minted" on the background together with splatters of the Shimmerz Texture Paste

I will list all the D-lish products at the bottom of the blog with links to the store.

Here are some close ups:

This chipboard has been coated with Viva Inka Gold - Indian Yellow

Thanks for stopping by and dont forget to check out the fabulous moodboard here and have a go this month.

I will be back tomorrow with another layout to share.  Til then Happy Scrapping :)

More Filigree Fun.... with Cindy Porter

Hi everyone, thanks for joining me here today for my third February post... Today I'd like to share with you some more fun I have had with the Metal Filigrees...

I created a mixed media canvas, using lots of the Metal Filigrees and the Scrap FX Ripples Stencil...

I used Filigree Butterflies, I bent the wings up to achieve a more 3D effect for the canvas...

the background texture was created with the Scrap FX Ripples Stencil, and some jump rings along with some metal daisies.... then coloured up using some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays.... and some Inka Gold for highlights...

The main flower cluster was created by using a Filigree 6 petal flower, along with a couple of Pressed Metal Leaves and Birds nest Charm...

hope you enjoyed the project... and I hope you've found time to join in the fun over in The Scrap Suite, and remember there is plenty of time to join in the challenges and be in with a chance to win to a prize...

till next time
happy creating
