I made a card!! - with Anna Allan...

Umm, I don't usually make cards.
It's rather awkward for me to be quite honest. BUT -- I am part of a birthday card giving swap this year and I want to be able to make my own handmade cards.
So this is the beginning of my card making ventures...

All the gorgeous D-lish goodies made this project rather easy actually.
Some Motex for the sentiment title and clusters of flowers, heart, bows and flair.

Add in a doily and some coloured tulle, which I stitched on in a ruffle, and this card was done!
I'm patting my own back for actually taking up my own challenge and working completely outside my comfort zone. It's a great feeling!

Dear Miss J - with Anna Allan...

Hi again!
I am sharing a layout featuring some Pinkfresh and Freckled Fawn products aswell as some D-lish dots.

I purchased a Pinkfresh kit from the D-lish shop a while ago and was quite taken with the coloured transparency cards however was unsure how I would use them in my projects other than in pocket-style memory keeping. I wanted to challenge myself and use one on a layout - so this was it.

I have featured the layout around my eldest daughter and designed the page in a kind-of letter format.

I went all artsy for my background using the plastic bag inking method!
Using a photo approximately 4x4" in size, I placed the transparent slip beside it -- I just love the words on it. And it fitted perfectly in with the journallng I wanted to include...things we love about our eldest girl :-)

I used the enamel dots as bullet points for my text. I love the look of them speckled across the page...and yes I used my own handwriting. Many don't like to use their own handwriting but I actually don't mind it now - mistakes and all - it's rather therapeutic and free-ing :-)
Give it a try :-)

D-Lish Products used:

Freckled Fawn wood veneer letters
D-lish dots
Pink Fresh Inspiration kit
Pink Fresh wood bits

Thanks for looking!

Dancing at Sunset - with Anna Allan...

Hi everyone!
Happy New Year - even though it's nearly the end of January! Crazy stuff!

Anyway I'm here to share a very simple layout I created using one of the monochrome kits as my main embellishments for the page.

In addition to the kit contents I added some mini flowers and some D-lish dots.
Also some paper lace offcuts, colour mist ink, and mini alphas from my own scrap stash.

I love using the wire to create words which is what I have done with the silver wire here as the word 'dancing'.

Bucket Heads - with Katie

Good Morning on this fine "back to school day"!!! So who is going to take advantage of having the kids back at school and scrap?! I would like to try, but my house also looks like a bomb site after weeks of them being home so I may need to prioritise!

I am back today with my last post for the month. It is hard to think the first month in 2015 is almost done! But that is life, moments are fleeting and that is why we need to capture and record!

This page is one of those moments. The family on my husbands side all went to see a 20Twenty cricket game in January and when you are there it is all about being in the moment and lapping up the atmosphere and if you have time maybe watching the game too.

This was a relatively simple page, keeping colours linked to the photo (and our home team of the Brisbane Heat too of course!) and neutral otherwise. But just because it is simple and clean doesn't mean there isn't room for great embellishments!

I love using the Motex Writer for journaling, but sometimes it is a great way to add a title that doesn't overwhelm the page. And thanks to Anna Allen, I have discovered the method of stapling for security, which also adds some pizzazz to the page!

I loved that I had one of these crocheted hearts in the right colour for the page, add a Journal It spot, wooden button and Skipping 5 puffy sticker and you have a great little cluster.

Another puffy sticker from Skipping 5, a tab from one of the monochrome packs (again I just happened to have the perfect colour!) and some washi from a past Just Add Paper kit finishes this section off.

And lastly, yet another Skipping 5 puffy sticker, these are great fun to use! And I sewed too! The other labels and word bits and pieces on the page are cut right out of a sheet of patterned paper that is part of the collection I have used, I think this one is Maggie Holmes Open Road.

Well, I hope everyone has a great back to school day today and that everything runs smoothly!

Until next month,

Katie x

Sweet - with Katie

Hi there, Katie back again! Happy Australia Day!! I hope you are all doing Aussie things today and enjoying and appreciating what it means to live in this fine country!

For today's page I set myself a little challenge to only use one of the monochrome mini kits for my embellishments. These were released a little while ago, but there are still a few left in the store if you are interested. These kits are packed with some great goodies and as you might guess by the name they are all of one colour.

Now one of my favourite colours at the moment is yellow, so I thought I would go with that kit. The only thing added is some patterned paper, cardstock and photo (of course!). Also remember that most of these things you can purchase individually!

This is our newest family member, Pepper, and she looks like the sweetest thing you could imagine. But..... looks can be deceiving! She is a rescue kitten and she still is a little un-trusting and not very cuddly! But we love her and my goal is to turn her into a sook, eventually!

So, the key items from the Monochrome Mini Kit are: Wood Veneer Frame, Fabric Flower, Paper Flowers, Resin Flowers, Sequins, Wordfetti, Flair and Coloured Wire. And that wasn't all that was in the kit, so you can see how easy it was to embellish my page with just this kit, and have left overs to boot!

The coloured wire is so easy to shape that creating a title is no drama at all. Just remember to use a good glue to secure it, or you could stitch it in place.

Wordfetti is a great way to add something extra to your page, almost like journaling or a sub-title. Sequins, love adding sequins! They can be used just like enamel dots and sprinkled around your page. And who doesn't love a flower cluster?! (Ok, time for confessions, I am not usually a big flower user, but I am getting better! It is hard not to with so many gorgeous flowers at my disposal.)

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your long weekend. Back to school for this house tomorrow!

Sun Sand Surf - with Katie

Good Morning! I hope you are all well this fine Sunday morning. So who has plans for this Aussie Day weekend?! We don't, but having a long weekend is great.

So just the other weekend we had our first cyber crop of the year, and as usual, the challenges also spur me on to try some different things and create some more pages. Today's post is my take on Alz's hybrid challenge with a summer theme.

Hybrid is so easy to do these days as so many of us already print something, cut something or add something to our photos using the computer, and using the great printables that Amanda created made it even simpler! This really was a page that came together pretty quickly.

So, you can probably see the printables in there, and I was so excited when I found that I had spray mists that were pretty much the same colours as the "beached" look on the bits and pieces that I had chosen! I also used a couple of the cut files that I made to coordinate with the set, and finally a few things from my ever growing D-lish stash and I was done!

Sequins are such an easy thing to add to a page to spice it up and they come in so many colours! I think these ones came from a Just Add Paper Kit, and were perfect for a 'sandy' colour.

I love adding paper bags to my pages, they are great for layering and I use them just like patterned paper. Not only that there are so many to choose from! These ones add a little subtle graphic dimension to the page.

I just love these felt bows! Bows have become a little bit of a favourite item for me lately! And having them in all sorts of styles is a bonus (think sequins, resin and wood veneer as well as felt!). This one from the summer colour set was a perfect match for the page too, bonus!

Well, I hope this has inspired you to go and have a go at a hybrid page. You can still download the free printables and print and cut files here. Don't be put off by the 'out of stock' note, that's just because there is no physical stock to sell!

Thanks for stopping by!

Morning all, this is my last layout for January.  I have gone with a summer beach photo - although we are not having much of a summer here in Tasmania.

The paper i have used is from Riddersholm design "Tailgate".  I love these papers as they are so thick.  To create the background I have used a Kaisercraft Circle stencil, Lindystamp Gang Moonshadow "buccaneer Bronze and Starburst "Sweet Violet Purple Teal.  I used clear embossing ink and a Kaisercraft stamp with which I embossed with gold embossing powder.

I will list at the bottom of this blog all the D-lish goodies with a link to the store.  Here are some close ups:

Thanks for stopping by and have a go at this  months challenge - the fantastic tutti frutti mood board.

Sunday, January 18, 2015

Good morning, I am back again and this time with a completely different project from yesterday's bold and "mixed media free" layout.  This is my diary for 2015 which I have made - I am going to try and be more organised this year!!!!!

I started by applying a couple of coats of gesso to the folder and used a Kaisercraft Stencil "dots".  The background colour is Lindy Stamp Gang Spray "salt water taffy" and Inklings paint "freshly minted".

From here is was layer upon layer of D-lish goodness!  I started with a Monochrome Kit pack - Purple.

Here are some closeups:  I have listed the products used at the bottom of the blog.

Dont forget to visit the blog here - check out the other DT and IT layouts :) and of course there is still time to have a go at this months challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and I will be back tomorrow for my final January post.

Morning all, today I am sharing my layout, based on the Tutti Fruitti mood board and sketch challenge - love these bold colours and thought I would do a "clean" layout. It is not often I do these!! but love the result.  The photo is of graffiti on a wall in Melbourne city.

I started with the fabulous mini packs - "orange".  I coloured the frame and the chipboard letters with embossing powder.  To create the background of the orange cardstock, I used a white charcoal pencil and brick stencil.

Love the sequins that come with the pack - I think they are my new favourites!
Below are some more close ups and I have a full product list linking to the store at the end of the blog

Thanks for stopping by and we will hopefully catch up again tomorrow xx

Memories ....... by Cindy Porter

Hi everyone, thanks for joining me here today for my third post for January, and I'd like to share with you another layout .... "memories"

This snapshot...was taken while I was visiting Angkor Wat in Cambodia... I absolutely loved seeing these temples in Cambodia, it is on my wish list to go back one day and spend more time exploring them...  I used a few different stencils with pan pastels and inks to create my background, and then added some extra detail with some stamping...

I decided to use the black Monochrome Mini Kit as the base for my page.... this is the first time I have used one of these new kits... and I have to confess, I love them, so easy to put a layout together, Amanda really has done half the work for you... I think I may have to invest in a few more of
Here I have used one of the flair buttons with the wooden heart, which I coloured using some Inka Gold along with some of the coloured wire. and one of the little Hydrangea Petals, along with some of the sequins and a Journal it's minifetti.... all of which was in the Monochrome Mini Kit.  I have also added some of the mini heart sequins, these are not part of the kit...

also in these wonderful kits you will find a sequin bow and the kits are wrapped up with the cotton twine... Here I have taken one of the Acetate Butterflies (not in the kit) and chopped it up and added it to the sequin bow  to create a 3D shinny butterfly...

Just a close up to show how I inserted the wings in-between the bow parts to create my 3D butterfly... check out how cute it looks...

here is a close up of more of the minifetti from the kit... perfect little sayings...

So a close up of the large daisy flower, more of the Hydrangea Petals, sequins, resin flower and coloured wire... Here you can also see the second flair button from the kit... and I also have scattered some more of those mini heart sequins, that are not part of the kit...

So these Monochrome Mini Kit  also contain a coloured doilybitty bag and a wooden frame...  I coloured up the frame using some Inka Gold...

Just one last  pic to show off the stencil work I did... I am loving this Prima stencil at the moment...

Now don't forget the Cyber Crop is on this weekend, and I hope to see you all pop in to The Scrap Suite for some fun, inspiration and challenges...

till next time
Happy Creating
